Question: I was leaning against the counter of receptionist at dentist office, and the counter slipped under my rib which hurt, but I didn't think much of it. Now that spot is sore and I think that's my kidney. My question is: if I bruised my kidney, should I be concerned or will it just heal itself?

Brief Answer:
If in doubt, get medical evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

One of the traumatic damage signs of kidney(s) is excretion of blood with urine.

Sometimes the amount of blood is minimal and passes unnoticed.

The kidney is located deep and is well protected so, I don't think you damaged it.

However, if in doubt, or you notice signs of blood in urine, get medical evaluation.

Simple tests such urinalysis and ultrasound exclude with high accuracy any kidneys damage.

If damaged there is need for treatment.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
