Suggest Remedy For Pain In Throat While Swallowing

Please follow instructions below
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. It looks like the sensitive mucosal layer of the throat might have been scalded due to hot momo stuck in the throat. It should get back to normal in 3 to 4 days after following instructions given below.
2. Please drink lots of cold fluids to soothe the throat and prevent dehydration. You might also drink cold milk. Eating hard solids might cause discomfort and pain therefore soft semi solid diet like porridge or khichdi might be easy to swallow.
3. Gargling twice daily with warm water will help avoid infection. If the pain worsens over 3 days then a possibility of mild bacterial infection might have to be considered and a short course of antibiotics might be required. Please watch out for any fever and if you have it then consult ENT specialist immediately. Mild pain relief medicines might help and please take it after food every 6 hourly.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Thank you for your advice. I will follow these instructions and let you know if the pain gets worse. Is there anything that I should avoid eating; hot/spicy food? Could you suggest something for immediate/short-term relief as I have to give a presentation tomorrow which would require 15 mins of continuous speaking?
Thank you
Best regards XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. You should avoid all types of hot and spicy foods for next 5 days at least.
2. Please suck on lozenges and small ice cube occasionally. You might consider having curd rice without pickle.
3. For the presentation, please have a bottle of chilled water and take regular sips to prevent drying of throat. You might talk softly and speak few words at a time. Please take a paracetamol 500 mg tablet after your breakfast or lunch depending on whether the presentation is in morning or afternoon. It will reduce the pain.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
