Suggest Remedy For Painful Intercourse In A Woman

Question: I have always enjoyed an active sex life, however in the past 18 months to two years I have been experiencing pain mainly on entry. My husband uses a lubricant liberally. It seems to be getting more painful. I had a partial hysterectomy at age 42 where only my uterus was removed. I have not had a pelvic exam for probably close to 20 years. Any thoughts?

The pain at your age can be due to vaginal dryness due to hormonal changes caused by menopause. A pelvic examination is needed to rule out any local pathology. In such cases usually a topical estrogen gel is helpful. You can consult your gynecologist for a direct examination and get the suitable gel prescribed.
