Suggest Remedy For Persistent Cold, Cough And Fever In A Child

Question: Hi. My kid 2 years 11 months old. She keeps getting cold, cough and fever once in 3 months or so. Each time the doctor prescribes antibiotics to treat her illness. I am not sure whether to go ahead with antibiotics each time. This time, her fever around 99/100 F has been there for 4 days and i was prescribed with zifikid dt-50 for 3 days. Should i continue with it or just use crocin.
Brief Answer:
Avoid antibiotics for every cough and cold
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns. Most likely reason for such symptoms in this age group is self limiting viral illness. They need just symptomatic treatment in the form of antihistamine and decongestant along with acetaminophen for fever episodes. Most infections improve over a period of few days.
So, avoid antibiotics for all these episodes. Give only if the episodes are severe and associated with bad sore throat and high spikes of fever. At present, you may continue with antihistamine such as Syp. Maxtra or T minic along with crocin for fever spikes. Hold antibiotics.
Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
