Suggest Remedy For Persistent Fatigue
Question: why am I aways so tired? I wake up tired and can't get going. Every thing that I eat seams to bloat me. I am even more exhausted after eating. I get nauseous really easy.
Brief Answer:
Hormone testing
Detailed Answer:
Sorry to note your symptoms.
When I see someone like you in my practice, I order the following tests in addition to a thorough physical examination:
CBC (blood cell count)
HbA1c
Glucose
Electrolytes
Liver function tests
Kidney function tests
25 hydroxy Vitamin D
8 am serum Cortisol
TSH
Free T4
These tests do not require fasting and can be done at anytime of the day.
The results of these tests will give us some idea as to the cause of your tiredness.
For example, anemia can cause fatigue, as can high sugars or vitamin D deficiency or thyroid problem.
A low cortisol can suggest adrenal insufficiency that can explain your nausea.

i have been tested for most of the above tests and they have come back all good. But i have not bein tested for low cortisol. I am 54 and suffering from menopause.
I guess my hormones would be all over the place. I was suffering from extreme hot flushes and anxiety which did not let me sleeping or eating. I was prescribed veniafaxine (150mg) which helps me sleep and eat but still suffer 40% of hot flushes. I am only guessing but i could be suffer adrenal fatigue due to menopause. What do you think. And how would you help fix it

Brief Answer:
Follow up
Detailed Answer:
The term adrenal fatigue is a myth.
The correct description is adrenal insufficiency which is fairly uncommon condition.
The cortisol test looks for that problem. If it is low then there is a second round of tests which includes
ACTH stimulation test
Serum ACTH levels
Once the diagnosis and cause are certain, treatment is directed at the cause an may include hydrocortisone as a medication to treat it.
You could see a gynaecologist to see if hormonal treatments for your severe menopausal symptoms are worth considering, based on the pros and cons in your case.
