Brief Answer:
an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy would be appropriate

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

it sounds like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In cases like yours an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is very helpful to determine whether esophagitis is also present and to exclude other potential causes of the symptoms. The fact that you had one almost 9 months ago makes the worst possibilities less likely (cancer for example). The hiatal hernia contributes to GERD. Nexium is very helpful as a treatment.

Until you do the new endoscopy, you should try to avoid fatty food, too much food, lying down right after meals, drinking coffee or citrus juices, alcohol, etc

When you lie down you can try to elevate the head of the bed a little to allow gravity to reduce the reflux.
Aspirin may make your burning worse, so you should discuss about it with your doctor.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
