Question: I have pain on the backside left side from waist down down 4-5" this has been coming on and off for the last week. Been using a TENS not helping had to get on all 4 to crawl out of bed. If I keep moving its not as bad. Sit and the pain gets a little worse. Pain was about a 7-8 on pain scale this morning.

Brief Answer:
fibromyalgia, TENS and localised left lumbar pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

The area you mentioned is among the 9 paired tender points used as diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia, so it can be a sequelae of your primary disease, still the kidney causes need to be ruled out, as renal colic may present like this. You may need ultrasound KUB to be sure. It can also be muscle spasm as TENS over activation can cause Stretch or over excitation of muscle leading to spasm.

Since tramadol and TENS both are failing to control it sufficiently, you can discus adding fluoxetine or gaba pentins with your primary physician. Meanwhile for this current episode adding tizanidine may help. Try to get some rest and avoid strenuous or heavy works.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.
