Suggest Remedy For Rashes On Groin Area With Redness After Treating Cold In A Child

Question: Our 12 year old had a bad cold that lingered. When he then also got a bad case of "jock itch" that wasn't curing with natural fungal treatments. We took him to the doctor. Dr. Cultured NOSE and came back positive for strep and staph. We chose to delay use of antibiotics until we made a great attempt at natural remedies. It has been 3 days. Cold is definately improving. Groin rash has calmed a bit in redness and has receded by an inch or so. There are no blisters to the rash but the flat, solid, red rash is still oozing a clear puss. Also has it under his armpits and behind one ear. Just found out he has had the ear location on and off for three years. He is definately not sexually active. What is this?!? I'm assuming the groin is strep or staph but the continued oozing?

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

I can understand your concern. The kind of lesion you have described is not suggestive of fungal infection. Also some species staph and streptococcus bacteria are normal inhabitant of nose/skin and can be found in healthy person.
Joke itch is a fungal infection.Groin is a common site but armpit and behind the ear is uncommon.
Also pus discharge is not suggestive of fungal infection.
If it is a bacterial infection antibiotic treatment would be needed.
I think first a proper diagnosis is needed to be made and then aggrasive treatment is needed.Skin diseases are better diagnosed by direct examination.I hereby request you to attach an image so that I better able to help you out.

Please let me know if you have any more query.
