Question: I have a full thickness tear of my rotator cuff. I currently cannot lift my arm. Due to litigation and insurance issues i will not be able to have surgery for 5 to 6 months. How is the wait going to affect the surgery, recovery and use of my arm down the road?

Brief Answer:
Makes the surgery difficult due to fibrosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Delaying the surgery lengthens the time taken for healing by 2-3 weeks, makes the surgery difficult due to fibrosis and can be associated with long sessions of regular physiotherapy before you regain the full range of movement. Till you have the surgery done, you will not be able to lift your arm. This will affect your quality of life.
Earlier the surgery, better are the chances of early healing and lesser is the joint stiffness.
I hope this answers your query.
