Suggest Remedy For Severe Allergic Reaction To The Sun

Question: Hello,...I am facing sun allergy problem since from last 4-5 years. I have taken different medicines but still it is not cured. Can you please suggest how can we cure these allergic reaction.
Skin is getting swollen and having itching reaction. I am using 20 SPF sunscreen but still whatever portion of the skin is exposed to sun it is getting swollen and red.

Please suggest medicine to cure these allergic reaction.

Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
As per details, it seems that you are suffering from a type of Photoallergic condition called as Solar urticaria. It is characterised by red colored itchy transient eruptions over body mainly involving sun exposed areas. The best part for management of such allergic reactions is Prevention rather than cure. You should apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 regularly over all the exposed areas. Sunscreen should be applied every 2-3 hourly over the exposed parts. Also you may need antihistaminics preferably a combination of levocetrizine and montelukast to relieve from allergy.
In non responding cases, hardening is done meaning sessions of photherapy are given for few days before onset of allergic reactions every season .
Besides sunscreen, you should use physical barrier like umbrella or broad brimmed hat to minimize aun exposure.

I have few queries. How can we take these antihistaminicsare they available in the form of tablets. Is it having the same content of the Cetirizine 10mg? or it is different one? Can you suggest tablets names with the contents of combination of levocetrizine and montelukast.

Can we take phototherapy to get rid of this allergic reactions? I want to get rid of this allergic reaction as I avoid to got outside when sun is there.

The combination is available in tablet form with various brands like LCZ M, Levosiz M.
It is different from cetrizine.
It contains montelukast in addition to levocetrizine which helps in preventing the release of mediators of allergy from cells on exposure to implicated allergen.
Phototherapy is usually given a month before onset of allergy every season.
