Question: I just had a physical and blood work came out pretty good. I have panic attack disorder and before i went to dr i had started obesssing over my blood sugar among other things. She did ekg, urine test, bloodwork. My bs was fasting of 87 which is in the range it has been at home. I have lost weight due to stress. Im trying to eat better and gain it back. I havent been checking my bs until this morning since i saw dr. My worst panic atttacks are when i first get up. For some reason i checked my bs and it was 116! I sat there a few mins to relax and checked again and it was 93. Can my panic attacks raise my blood sugar? Also any advice u have to gain some of my weight back would be appreciated. I have been through this before... With my weight during stress. I lose fast and hard to put some back on.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query.

Anxiety and stress are known factors that can influence blood sugar levels.During a panic attack or anxiety ,the body is in a stressful situation, prepared to fight or flight. This is due to the response of our sympathetic nervous system. This response of the organism will induce the release of the stress hormones like Adrenaline,Cortisol ,Norepinephrine, which increase the level of blood sugar.

Regarding your weight ,I would suggest to eat frequent meals. You need to eat more calories than your body burns. You need to calculate the amount of calories you take and burn every day and than try to take at least 500-700 calories more.
A well balanced diet is necessary to gain weight healthy. You should eat foods high in proteins (meats, fish, eggs, dairy products, legumes, nuts etc).
Sleep is also very important. You need to sleep enough and have a good quality of sleep.Controlling you anxiety and panic attacks will also help to gain weight.

Hope it helps.
Please feel free to ask if you have any question.

Hello again.

You don't need to worry about the blood sugar. It is in normal range.

Eating foods high in protein will help you to gain weight, mostly muscle.
