Suggest Remedy For Stiffness In Knee
![default](/r/images/default.png)
I was in hospital for 6 months and was in a coma for 3 months. I had to learn to walk and talk again. All my organs were failing but thank god I am doing good know! I still have stiffness in my knees. It's not really that bad, I was just wondering if that is ok ? And is there anything I can do ?
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for your question and I'm sorry to hear about your coma and prolonged hospital stay but pleased to hear that you are getting better now.
It is not unusual to have stiffness and even fixed contractures in joints following a prolonged stay in an intensive care unit or in hospital. Most intensive care units have physiotherapists and occupational therapists who work with patients who are in a coma to keep there joints supple and XXXXXXX for when they wake up and start using them again.
if your knee joints are still stiff but are improving that is good news. You will likely also have significant wasting in your quadriceps and hamstring muscles. Ongoing physiotherapy should help improve the stiffness in your knees and strengthen the muscles around the joints.
I hope you get back to full health soon.
Best wishes
