Suggest Remedy For Stress In A Person With Hypothyroidism
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I am 64 yrs. old. Have been treated for many yrs with 0.1 mg. Synthroid for hypothyroidism. In last 4 years have been under tremendous stress non-stop with taking care of husband with dementia. He recently passed away as did my father within a few wks. of each other. I have began having anxiety, panic attacks and elevated blood pressure even though I am on blood pressure meds. Could it be that my thyroid is depilated from so much stress that my thyroid meds need to be adjusted. I have read that a lot of stress can affect you thyroid.
Brief Answer:
yes need to check the thyroid function
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
It seems that the recent stress is the cause behind your escalated symptoms. Stress requires more thyroid hormone levels and if your thyroid can't keep up then you can have these symptoms.
Now you should get the thyroid function tests done so that the dose of synthyroid can be adjusted. Also you need to reduce the stress levels by meds, meditation, yoga, etc.
Hope this helps.
