Question: i am having problem with breathing through stuffed nose

1. These symptoms are usually due to nasal turbinate hypertrophy and a DNS (Deviated Nasal Septum).
2. Get a plain CT PNS (Para Nasal Sinuses) done when the blockage / stuffy nose is at its peak. After this get a post decongestion scan done. 5-8 drops of 0.1% Xylometazoline nasal drops (such as Otrivin) should be instilled in each nostril. Wait for 15 minutes by the clock and re-scan. Compare the images with the relief that you get. Upload some images here (ask the radiologist to select them.for you).
3. Get a nasal examination and nasal endoscopy done. Upload the clinical findings.
4. A two week trial with an anti-histamine, an anti-leukotriene, a steroid nasal spray, steam inhalation and hypertonic saline nasal washes should be done.
5. If the problem persists, Radio-frequency ablation of the nasal turbinates may suffice instead of a septoplasty (especially if the post decongestion scan is clear).
