Suggest Remedy For Swelling And Blisters After Being Bitten By Fire Ants

Question: I live part time in Bali, got bitten by fire ants 4 days ago and something else that I don't know (bites are different). A couple of the bites have become very swollen and blistered. I have taken antihistamine which is helping with the swelling but I am now starting to get pains in my mid back around the kidney area. I am current at work on a remote minesite without doctors nearby. What do you suggest?

Brief Answer:
I would require an Image of the affected area

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have noted down the complaints.

I request you to kindly upload a digital Image of the affected area.

I will like to rule out a possibility of herpes zoster. Blistering, pain makes me suspect this possibility.
Herpes zoster usually presents with multiple, grouped, discrete, fluid filled vesicles arranged in a characteristic stripe like pattern, only on one side of the body. Pain is a prominent feature.

Whereas, Insect bite hypersensitivity, usually has burning rather than pain as a prominent symptom and does not follow a distinct stripe like pattern, as is commonly seen in herpes zoster.
Nevertheless, blistering, pain and erythema can be seen in severe insect bite reactions.
Moreover, Insect bites usually happen on exposed skin.

I would also like to know whether the rash is limited to one side of the body?

Regards
