Suggest Remedy For Swelling On Hands And Feet

Question: my son is 32 and we think hand, foot and mouth disease, from looking on line. He had a fever and his throat is better, but his hands and feet are bad. HIs hands and feet are swollen and the both hurt and his finger tips have no feeling. His feet are red/with look like purple. He went to his primary doctor and he was not help. Can adults have bad case of this disease? He has his last chemo treatment last May

Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.

In my opinion , adult can also have bad case of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) if their immunity is low . Since your son has chemo treatment last May , he most probably have hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD).

In HFMD , Symptoms usually begin with a fever, reduced appetite, sore throat, and a feeling of being unwell. A skin rash with flat red spots develop on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.This rash may blister but won't itch.

If I were his treating Doctor , I would advice him
drink plenty of fluids ,
antihistamine at night ,
acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain & fever after consulting your treating doctor.

Avoid Spicy or acidic substances .

Most patient recover in 7-10 days .
