Brief Answer:
nees to consider drug toxicity

Detailed Answer:
dear,
welcome to HCM
we need to rule out drug toxicity in your case.
I would need information on following
1) For what consisting have you been prescribed these medications? how long have you been taking venlafaxin?
2) How long did it took you to experience these symptoms after initiation of cymbatla?
3) Are you suffering from any other kidney or heart related problems? taking any medications other than mentioned?
4) Any drug addiction issues in past?
5) any symptoms of racing heart, increased body temperature, fever, etc

information on these would help me to have a clearer clinical picture of your condition.
For your question of the you being allergic to the drug; well, alergy won't present like that there would be skin rash, breathlessness in severe reactions, nausea vomitting, etc.

I would suggest you to get a baseline ECG, kidney function test.

Kindly revert back soon with the answers.

I have been taking antidepressants off and on since I had an serious emotional/nervous breakdown in 1970-1971 and have done well once I got over the "breakdown" ... it was really bad to the point of being suicidal for four months. Since recovering from that, I have had nothing major. My doctor felt it best to keep me on medication before I had to keep going on meds and off meds, and this was difficult for me. (2) question about why I went to rheumatologist ... it was because of aching muscles all over (fibromyalgia ??) I took the cymbalta for 4 to 5 weeks before feeling bad. I checked with pharmacist and was told to see doctor. (3) I have had no drug addiction, except for when I had "breakdown" ... I had a hard time weaning off the Valium they had me on. I got very nervous at that time when prescription was almost gone. No other drug problems. Thank you. I hope you can re-open my question

Brief Answer:
more information needed

Detailed Answer:
thanks for the reply.
I could make following inference
1) you appear to be suffering from mood disorder with somatic complaints. Most probably of depression, for which you have been on meds and responded well.
2) Currently in distress(complaints mentioned by you previously here)

We need to consider
1) drug toxicity
2) relapse of existing condition

I need to know
1) what is the prescribed medication you are taking currently?
2) dose of meds and duration since taking them?
3) have you discontinued meds abruptly?

kindly revert soon.

Dear Dr. Borade: I am presently taking Benazepril 25 mg, one whole tab morning and 1/2 tab at night; Furosemide, 40 mg, one daily; Klor-Con, 10 mEq, one a day; Carvedolol, 25 mg, one twice daily; Nexium, one daily; Venlafaxin, 225 mg, one daily; Premarin, 0.3 mg, one daily; L-Thyroxine, 88 mcg, one daily; Spironolactone, 25 mg, one at night. I came off the Cymbalta gradually, beginning with one every other day for a week, then one every 3rd day for a week, then discontinued. As of today, I am feeling much better ... almost back to normal. Of course, the pain has come back, and I have gone back on my hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10/325, 1/2 tablet in morning and 1/2 tablet around 3:00 p.m. if needed. This does not control the pain, but it helps me tolerate the pain. My creatinine is just over the upper limit of normal, and I am trying to cut down on the Furosemide by 1/2, but my face and ankles are swelling more. I average taking 1/2 tab one day and whole tablet the next day. I did not mention that I take B-Complex with B-12; D-3 vitamin, A vitamin, and C vitamin. I have some nodules and cysts on my liver, but my liver function tests are fairly normal, although in the upper limits of normal. As for the "drug toxicity" (I think you are right, because I am feeling better each day since I went completely off the Cymbalta). I was very frightened when I first experienced the weird symptoms. I just want to tell everyone ... do not take Cymbalta and 225 mg of Venlafaxin !!! I am convinced this was the problem! Thank you for helping me and reassuring me that I was on the right track. XXX
