Brief Answer:
Shingles

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It seems to be shingles which is like reactivation of chicken pox virus which stays back in the sensory ganglia and reactivates. It typically starts with pain and burning sensation and later on develops a rash in the dermatomal region. Primarily for mediation of pain, painkillers are used. If the patient presents with in 72 hours of symptoms, you may be given antivirals acyclovir , famcicycolvir or valacyclovir. Although it does help with the rapid resolution of the lesions, however its unclear whether it decreases the incidence of postherpetic nueralgia. Hope it helps.
