Suggest Remedy For White-heads With Pus Under Chin
Question: Whitehead bumps under lips near chin, they are pus filled and can be popped but new ones arise days later. Could this be herpes? please view the attached photos. thank you doctor.

I have reviewed the attached photograph.
You need not worry as this is not herpes virus infection. You are having superficial folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicles. It is usually due to bacterial infection but can also be caused due to physical or chemical irritant.
It I were your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin or fusidic acid on the bumps twice daily for 5-7 days. This will resolve them.
In addition if you are having frequent recurrence of these white bumps then apply the topical antibiotic cream in the nostrils, external ears, finger and toe web spaces and navel for atleast 6 weeks to avoid its recurrence.This will decrease the carriage of organisms in these sites and prevent it from occurring again and again.
