Question: Hi Dr Sharka,

I already sent you a feedback and a thank you the day you answered my question. Thank you again I will take your advice on board.

I have another question.  My 15 ½  yo son has been feeling weak after the flu and a bug.  He has not been eating well. Is there any natural supplements you recommend to give him energy?

I would recommend as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome back again on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would recommend taking a diet full of vitamins, in order to have increased appetite.

You should know that the main source of vitamins are fresh fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin B is very helpful for our body and appetite. It can help correct anemia (which is a common complication of flue). For this reason, I would recommend taking also food like beef, eggs, almonds, spinach, milk. These types of food are also rich in proteins which are really necessary to fight against anemia.

Vitamin C is another supplement helpful to increase appetite. Fruits like lemon, orange, peppers, broccoli, berries, kiwi, etc..

I just mentioned some types of vitamins, but it is important taking a little from all other vitamins and other types of food in order to have a balanced diet and recover from flue.

Performing a complete blood count test would help exclude possible chronic anemia.

If eating these types of food, does not help, or if your son does not like them, I would recommend taking a multivitamin (one tablet a day), which you can buy easily in the supermarket or in the pharmacy, without medical prescription.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Dr. Iliri
