Brief Answer:
Very unlikely to be infected without contact

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern.
Mersa is another name for MRSA or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, a type of bacteria that can cause skin infections.
It spreads through personal contact or contact with articles used by the infected person.
If you did not have any of these, there is nothing to worry.
It usually presents as a skin infection- a pimple, boil or abscess.
Rarely one can get a serious infection with septicemia or pneumonia in which case the person will be very sick with fever and other symptoms.
Best wishes,
Dr. Noble Zachariah
