Brief Answer: Varies depending on the liver disease Detailed Answer: Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. I am glad that the liver enzymes are within the normal limits. Actimarin forte is a combination of hepatoprotective/Cholagogue- contains Ursodeoxycholic acid 300mg and Silymarin 140mg and is used once to thrice daily depending on the liver disease. I would like to know the reason for having given Actimarin Forte. I await your response.Thank you.

Brief Answer: SGOT & SGPT rise is non specific Detailed Answer: SGOT and SGPT are are highly sensitive markers of liver damage due to various diseases or injury ranging for hepatitis, cirrhosis or alcoholic liver disease etc. Higher levels of these enzymes are not specific to any disease. I were to investigate the cause of rise in these enzyme levels before advising the dose of Actimarin Forte. Atorvastatin 10 mg rarely elevates liver enzymes (usually associated with higher doses such as 80mg) Hope you shall revert soon.
