Suggest The Ideal Dosage For Amoxicillin Taken For UTI

amoxicillin is not a good choice
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
amoxicillin (alone) is not a good choice against UTI. Amoxicillin can be used in combination with clavulanic acid, although it's not the primary regimen. If you're going to use amoxicillin-clavulanic acid for cystitis then 875/125 mg twice daily for 5-7 days is recommended.
The recommended primary regimen for cystitis consists of the following choices (only one of them!) :
- trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole 800/160 (DS) twice daily for 3 days
- nitrofurantoin 100mg twice daily for 5 days
Alternative regimens include:
- ciprofloxacin which is perhaps the most effective choice for common UTI.
- amoxicillin-clavulanate 875/125 twice daily for 5-7 days
- cephalexin 500mg four times daily for 5-7 days.
