Suggest The Ideal Dosage For Zyprexa

Question: Hi. i only want Dr. XXXXXXX Solanki to answer this question since he has been answering many questions for me :) i hope that it is possible to forward this to him so he can answer this question. Thanks in advance.

The question to Dr. XXXXXXX Solanki:

ok my friend. i am on 9,375 mg dose of Zyprexa today. and i want to lower it by another 0,625 mg soon. but i worry about that i might not be able to fall asleep if i got under "100% dose for me of Zyprexa", so i want to have a plan if i cant fall asleep.

i was thinking: i'm taking Zyprexa at around 10 pm each evening. so if i cant fall asleep by 8 am the next morning then i would just take another 0,625 mg then (at 8 am in the morning) so then i would go up to my previous dose that i know i can fall asleep on and then i could fall asleep.
i think that is a pretty good plan. do you know of a better plan for if i cant fall asleep ?

My psychiatrist in iceland has very very little time for me to answer my questions and i dont think that i can buy or get more time with her. that is why i am asking you these questions. i am not in a private-psychiatrist sessions with her. i was in a mental hospital of the government in iceland (i live in iceland) and she works for the government.

anyway, that is the plan i have for if i cant fall asleep in my Zyprexa-dose-reduction plan.

is it good and completely safe to follow that plan if i cant fall asleep ?

would you recommend me to follow that plan if i cant fall asleep ?

Thanks for asking me again.

Lowering 0.625 mg dose from 9.375 mg of zyprexa will not cause any sleep disturbance. I am saying this from my clinical experience as well as pharmacodynamic of the drug.

You can follow sleep hygiene.

thanks for answer.

but i forgot to tell you that i plan on reducing the drug dose after that by 0,625 mg and then again by 0,625 mg until i go under "100% dose of Zyprexa for me"

(i asked about "100% dose of zyprexa for me" with you a few months back and then you said that you thought that "100% dose of Zyprexa for me" was roughly 7,5 mg)

i do not expect any sleep disturbances until i go under 100% dose and then i only maybe expect sleep disturbances.

but i want to have a psychiatrist-approved-plan for dealing with if i cant fall asleep like happened last time.

so i very much want you to answer the three questions that i asked you like 13 hours ago here on this website.

Thanks for follow up.

Yes your plan is good. You can follow the plan you have thought if you will have difficulty in falling asleep. It is safe plan. I recommend it.

But again I want to mention that you will not need this plan. The way you have planned to reduce the dose of zyprexa will not cause any sleep disturbance and if you can follow sleep hygiene without any concern of sleep disturbance I am sure you can taper zyprexa easily without any problem.
