Question: Could I have add? My 1st grade and kindergarten teachers always lamented my excessive talking. I forgot to bring my music sheet during to my 5th grade talent show.I once accidently threw a perfectly good hand towel in the toilet , lost in my thoughts.I blurt out answers.I also often lose my train of thought, have trouble staying organized, and am terrible at time management. I am great at procrastinating and starting but not finishing things. I used to love reading as a kid and could be lost in a book (or several) for hours. As I got older it became harder to read through a complete book without skipping around and I was dismayed because I couldn't just lose myself in a book as easily anymore.
Also I find it hard to control my procrastination. I had a better work ethic when I was younger as everything school related was easy/interesting. This problem affects my life because I can't rely on myself to get things done, remember things, not make careless mistakes, stay organized, not blurt out the end of what I think peoples' sentences will be.

Good thing is you know what is right.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your question.

The thing I liked about your confession is you know what is right and what is wrong.

Now together we have to pin point if it is attention deficit disorder or not, if it is yes then how to go about it, to take you out of this.

For help I need to know about your,
1. Parents
2. Are you still living with both of them?
3. Are they both working?
4. How was and is their relationship as wife and husband?
5. You have how many brothers and/or sisters?and are you the eldest?
6. How was your relation with your parents and siblings.
7. Was any of your sibling given more attention then you, or you were scolded for not looking after them?
8 How were your teachers and friends? Who is the closest one.

You can skip which ever question you feel is very personal and do not want to answer. Or add any thing which you think may be useful.

Please furnish me as much details as you can so that I can give you really useful answer.

Waiting for your reply.
Best Wishes.

Ok no problem. Yes I am living with both of them. Their relationship is cordial, more like roomates who happen to be married. (Its been like that for the past 7 years or so) I am an only child. I am closer to my mom but I get along fine with both of my parents. My teachers in primary school were great. My teachers in highschool were a mixed bag ranging from completely incompetent to really good. My friends are awesome and I'm really glad to have them in my life..no to be cheesy lol. Also not to jinx it but we are a mostly drama free, supportive group of people. My closest friend is XXXXXXX and she is also like a sister to me. We are somehow related (neither of us knows exactly how) but although we get on each others nerves sometimes I couldn't ask for a better best friend. Last year I took too many ap classes and although I'd been a straight A student up till this point (with a 4.2GPA) I started to struggle and my grades declined. I also started to feel like a failure and extremely guilty and so I resorted to self harm to feel better. (I feel much better now and haven't self harmed in 8 months, I remind myself that it's not an appropriate coping mechanism and I regret ever doing it immensely) I just feel like a mess. I can't seem to stop procrastinating although I try quell any feelings of guilt and stress about it. The stress however makes it feel like I'm torturing myself emotionally by being irresponsible, lazy , and unfocused. Im pretty flaky about things like time and remembering to do things. Unsurprisingly, the stress makes it harder to focus and I put things off until literally the last hour sometimes. Like now I am skipping school to work on a project I had all week to do. I can't keep this up and I just want to graduate highschool and not drop out of college when I get there. I hate feeling so overwhelmed all the time when I used to enjoy learning and school. I want to succeed no matter what I do or don't have.

Brief Answer:
Chill! You're absolutely fine!

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
I like how you have answered everything in detail which helps me to better analyse the situation. You can smile now as I've good news for you! There's nothing majorly wrong with you, and you're definitely not suffering from ADD. The issues that bother you are common in a lot of adolescents. Procrastinating is of course not a good habit, however its not a disorder either. Self harm is the worst coping mechanism and only cowards opt for it. You seem to be a positive and brave girl. Indulge in a hobby, go out make new friends and keep meeting old ones too. Travel. All of this would help you see life with a fresh and new perspective; thereby helping you realise that the issues you're taking so seriously are not meant to be. Yes, try to rectify them, but do not obsess over them. And please no self harming again!

You can also try yoga and meditation to improve your focus on learning. Spend time with your loved ones. Share your feelings with them, and trust me, you'll see a great deal of change within yourself. And you can always get back to me if you've any self doubt. I'd be glad to help. Good luck dear!
Hope this helped you.
Best Wishes.
