Question: 8 days ago, I fell and scraped up my back. Bruising at lower back. A lump formed and has been painful to sleep on. Just started icing it a few hours ago. No difference yet. It's kind of soft, about golf ball size. Not present before fall a week ago ...

Brief Answer: Following measures will help. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for your query. From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Golf ball size lump might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood). You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance. Meanwhile following measures will help with the pain • Lie on a hard bed. • Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required • Avoid forward bending. • Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights. • Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care

Will apply warm compress. Not much pain or inhibited movement. Replied to healthcaremagic with two images, but not sure if the pics (lump 1, lump 2) went to you. Mahalo (thanks) for the quick response!
