Suggest Treatment For ADHD

Question: hello,
I am a student but have a hard time concentrating on tasks. In high school it wasnt that bad because the classrooms were smaller. But in a large lecture hall I find myself focusing on things other then the professor. I have been reluctant to talk to a doctor because I hear that ADHD drugs can become addicting. But I need to do something because my grades are reflecting my lack of focus from all my topics.

Brief Answer:
consider medications
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
It is true that once you are on the ADHD medications, your body becomes adapted to them and you will need to taper off of them when you stop them. This is not really addiction. People without ADHD may abuse these drugs but addiction is ot usually a problem for people with ADHD. For people with ADHD they can be life changing. They will help your focus and interactions with others, not to mention your grades. Counseling with someone that has skills in treating ADHD can also be helpful. There is a great book written by two psychiatrists called Driven to Distraction that might be helpful to you. I wish you the best.
