Brief Answer: It's urine culture report Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Dear Ms When clinically Urinary tract infection is suspected it is confirmed by presence of pus cells in urine microscopy examination. Urine culture and antibiotic sensitivity is done to know the organism causing the infection and also to know the antibiotic sensitivity to bacteria . A fixed volume of urine is inoculated over culture media and based in the growth characteristics the organism is identified and sensitivity to various antibiotic is checked. The culture is said to be positive for bacteria when the the colony count in culture is greater than 100000 / ml. As the counts are in that range in your case it denotes presence of significant bacteria in the urine. The organism isolated/cultured in your case is Escherichia Coli. Extended spectrum beta lactamase producer denotes it can produce an enzyme known as Beta lactamase which destroys Beta lactam antibiotic. So such class of antibiotic are not effective in management of this infection. Also the report says multiresistant denoting the organism is resistant to wide variety of clinically used antibiotic. I hope it helped you in understanding and interpretation of reports. Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you. Take care Best Regards Dr T Shobha Deepak MBBS, MD
