Suggest Treatment For Gilbert's Syndrome
Question: Hi. My daughter is intermittently jaundiced and was recently diagnosed with Gilbert's Syndrome due to Indirect elevation of the bilirubin. She also had a lab come back elevated of Mitachondrial M2 Antibodies IGG at 64.3 and a pos ANA. All liver enzymes and hepatitis panel are normal. The doctor told me she was at a higher risk for PBC in the future. My question is this: If Gilbert's is said to be a benign condition, should she have the elevated MMA? I have been unable to find a thing in the literature where a person with "benign" Gilbert's Syndrome also has the elevated MMA and pos ANA. We're awaiting our first rheumatology visit. Also she's 18. Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM.
I read carefully all your concerns and i can say as follows:
1. XXXXXXX syndrome is a benign condition and is not related with elevated MMA-IGG antibodies neither with ANA Positive.
2. I would like to check your test results by myself so I can give a more accurate opinion.
3.Ana positive and MMA may be related with other autoimmune issues this is why your doctor said that your daughter has increased risk for PBC in the future. But it doesn't mean that she surely will be with PBC.
Hope it was helpful to you!
