Brief Answer:
PCOD is a hormonal problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

PCOD is a long term problem related to hormonal imbalance. it can affect your fertility as there is difficulty in ovulation and delay in periods.

All treatments are aimed at reducing the symptoms it causes ( an-ovulation, acne, excess body hair ) and also to prevent long term complications ( endometrial hyperplasia, heart disease, diabetes, cholesterol problems ) arising out of this.

As obesity is known to worsen the situation, lifestyle changes like diet and exercise is the mainstay of treatment and reduction of body weight even by 5% helps at least 30 to 40% of women to restore their menstrual cycles. If this alone doesn't work, periods can be regularized by hormonal pills.

You will have to share this issue with your future husband if there is a delay in conception.
Athlea can help to regularize the periods.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Wishing you good health.
Regards.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX Maam for understanding and addressing my concern in detail. I have a follow up question:
I am 86 kgs in weight - along with taking althea daily can you please help me with some help immediately to overcome this issue?
Also do i have to continue taking Althea lifleong? What would happen if I stop this?
Also would any post marital intercourse reduce this problem?
Sorry for anything private that i have asked. I want to just clear my mind of this stress.

Brief Answer:
Diet control and exercise is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
To decrease the body weight any medicine like Althea will not help. You will have to decrease carbohydrate and fat intake and start doing a regular exercise. The imbalance will be corrected only if you reduce your weight by at least 20 kgs.
Althea is just a supplement. Stopping it will not have much adverse effect.
intercourse will not reduce this problem.
Hope my answer is helpful.
