Bladder conditions detailed, can be endometriosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
The findings in cystoscopy could be a predominantly benign lesion, a benign lesion with possible malignant potential or a malignancy itself. It is difficult to tell the exact type of cells by doing only cystoscopy, however since your doctor says that it is small and has a benign appearance, it might not be a cancer after all.
Any small unusual appearance likely to be a growth in the urinary bladder can be termed a neoplasia. Since the bladder is lined with urolthlium (a type of surface epithelial cells) hence it is called urothelial neoplasia.
Urothelial neoplasia includes benign and malignant conditions and is classified by World Health Organisation guidelines in the following manner
1. flat-related preneoplastic lesions as urothelial hyperplasia (flat and papillary), 2. reactive urothelial atypia,
3. urothelial atypia of unknown significance,
4. urothelial dysplasia (low-grade intraurothelial neoplasia), and
5. urothelial carcinoma in situ (high-grade intraurothelial neoplasia).
You might have any one of the above and I reassure you that if the urologist says it is most likely benign then we have to agree to his opinion. Since the cells need microscopic confirmation, a biopsy is essential for diagnosis and treatment.
Though unrelated to fibroids, bladder endometriosis is a concern. Bladder endometriosis can be described as a condition when endometrial-like cells grow on or through the walls of the urinary bladder. The symptoms are variable and commonly include frequent urination, pain on urination, urinary urgency and urinary retention. Rarely blood might appear in urine during menses or at any other time. It will help to discuss this condition with your urologist.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
