Suggest Treatment For UTI
If confirmed by culture and sensitivity report, with proper antibiotics.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXX,
Thank you for your question.
Any infection, if confirmed by either a culture and sensitivity report or by serological tests, is treated with the appropriate antibiotics based on the culture and sensitivity report (antibiogram).
If you have symptoms such as burning sensation while passing urine, pain, tenderness in the lower abdomen, difficulty passing urine, fever, and are passing blood in urine or cloudy urine, then it is prudent to get yourself examined by your treating physician/PCP at the earliest and undergo some basic investigations such as a urine routine examination with microscopy, urine culture and sensitivity, Ultrasound scan of the KUB region to confirm the diagnosis.
Based on your clinical findings, your doctor might start you on an empirical antibiotic regimen, which she/he may change based on the antibiogram later.
I hope this answers your query, please write back to me if you have additional questions.
Wishing you good health,
Kind regards
Urinary tract infections are usually caused by E. Coli, one which works.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXX,
Thank you for writing back.
E. Coli is the most common bacteria that causes urinary tract infection, so an empirical antibiotic of choice before culture and sensitivity test would be Ciprofloxacin. It is usually prescribed to take 5oo mg twice a day for 5 days.
This is a prescription only medicine, so you have no choice but to go to your doctor and get it prescribed.
Drinking cranberry juice reduces the symptoms to some degree but does not cure the problem.
Please consult your doctor and get the basic investigations advised above and follow the prescription of your doctor.
I hope this answers your query.
All the best.
