Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail and understand your concern for the gentleman. A concussion injury is a very mild form of injury which is not detectable by imaging. Effects are usually temporary but can include headaches and problems with concentration, memory, balance and coordination. It is usually a contact sports related injury.

Important features of concussion injury are:
Headache or a feeling of pressure in the head
Temporary loss of consciousness
Confusion or feeling as if in a fog
Amnesia surrounding the traumatic event
Dizziness or "seeing stars"
Ringing in the ears
Nausea
Vomiting
Slurred speech
Delayed response to questions
Appearing dazed
Fatigue

Some symptoms of concussions may be immediate or delayed in onset by hours or days after injury, such as:
Concentration and memory complaints
Irritability and other personality changes
Sensitivity to light and noise
Sleep disturbances
Psychological adjustment problems and depression
Disorders of taste and smell

If he does not have any of the above then its most likely that he did not suffer any injury. However even the slightest of symptoms may require him to take rest and avoid contact sports for few days. Its better that he does not drive if he feels unwell.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any further doubts.

Dr.Vivek

Thank you for answering. He didn't have symptoms except for headache, feeling sick and not eating. He appeared to be alert, clear eyed, answered questions. Maybe dry heat driving a XXXXXXX desert temporarily made symptoms worse. I'll see how he feels tomorrow AM and decide if he needs to get checked be Dr. I'm always extra cautious about head injuries. A symptom of being a Mom/Grand-mom I guess! :-). I feel better for now. Thank you for info.

Hi XXXXXX,
You are welcome and thanks for writing in with an update.

I suppose the gentleman is doing well and has had a good nights sleep. I do agree that his dry heat driving might have made him feel tired. Its good to be extra cautious with head injuries for about a day.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any further doubts.
