Suggest Treatment For A Lump On The Scalp

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Oct 2017
Question: I have a lump on my scalp (on the top left side of the parietal bone). I found it about 2 months ago, it appeared from nowhere, totally painless and feels like a bone. It does not seem to change (at least not significantly) , it is fixed to the skull, cannot be moved and actually feels like a part of my skull but it wasnt there before for sure.. it has an oval shape, and around 2cm in length.. im 24 years old, male, usually healthy.. i am worried that it might be dangerous.. thinking about it all day and cant fall asleep.. can you please provide with an elaborated honest opinion? I have an apointment to an ultrasound check in couple days, but my anxiety is driving me crazy.. what are the possibilities? I tried to google it but found that if it is immobile, hard and painless it is not a good sign.. it made me worry even more. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Most likely to be benign bone growth

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

The lump you are describing has likely arisen from the bone. Given that it is not growing or changing size significantly, and you do not have any associated symptoms like pain, the lump is likely of benign nature like an osteoma.
Please be advised to follow up for the ultrasound evaluation as scheduled. Meanwhile, there is nothing alarming and you can relax.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Osteomas are benign growths arising from bone. They do not go away on its own m, but can be removed surgically.
The warning signs include remains increase in size of the lump, onset of pain, onset of numbness or other sensory problems and changes in skin overlying the lump.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

The vomiting and diarrhea you experienced is possibly due to upset stomach due to food poisoning. Vertigo and lump is possibly unrelated given the location and characteristics of the lump you described. The vomiting and vertigo is likely to be unrelated to the lump. You can undergo ENT evaluation to identify the cause of vertigo.
