Suggest Treatment For A Mild Bruise On The Eye Lid

Question: an umbrella accidentally hit my son's right eye, causing a mild bruise on d eye lid. he is in acute discomfort and doesn't want to open the eye. I hv seen the eye and there a doesn't appear to b any visible damage. i put some ice there for 5 minutes and applied soframycin on d lid. plz advise

Hi,

Scalp, forehead and the area around eye lids is heavily vascularised. A simple trauma bleeds heavily in this area. Therefore I am not surprised trivial trauma such as accidental brush with umbrella / umbrella spikes resulted in bruise.

In most cases, this injury is trivial and won't cause serious concerns. However if he is still in discomfort, I will recommend to see a doctor. Continue icing the region. You may also try ibuprofen; the dose depends on his age plus current body weight.
