default
Posted on Wed, 17 May 2017
Question: In bed I was bitten by a spider or insect of some kind on the ankle of my right foot. Two days later I have mild swelling of my right foot and aching on the bottom of my right foot. It does not seem to be getting worse, but it is not getting better yet. I will elevate my foot now. Is there anything else you can recommend.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Most spider bite are non poisonous. It cause mild swelling and local reaction.
You don't need to worry as it will resolve with itself by conservative treatment.

I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things done:-
(1)- Get a shot of tetanus vaccine.
(2)- Antihistamines like cetrezine or cholorpheneramine to reduce itching and swelling.
(3)- You can take analgesics like diclofenac for pain.
(4)- Apply warm compresses over the affected area for symptomatic relief.
(5)- If swelling persist despite all these ,you need to take predenisolone tablets for three days
Most cases resolve with these conservative measures in few days.

Wishing you good health
