Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Hernia
Question: I had an abdominal ultrasound yesterday because of a vertical, hard protrusion from above navel about 2 by 2 inches. It shows up dark on the screen and I saw her measure and take a picture of it.
I also have some puzzling fluid/swelling above left collarbone.
What is located vertically beneath the skins surface above the navel?

Brief Answer:
Abdominal hernia.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Most likely this is a hernia. This is nothing serious and nothing to be worried about. Hernia in this location usually contains fat from abdominal wall. Sometimes an intestine can appear as well. Fluid can be visible in the hernia as well.
I suggest you to consult general surgeon and consider surgery of this hernia.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Hello and thank you for answering.
My follow-up question would be about the fluid swelling above my left collarbone and wondering if there was a connection between the said 'lump' and lymph fluid?
I hope it's a hernia.
I've had surgery already for the right and the left groin for 2 hernias.
I've had a tubal ligation through my navel and I did at times feel uncomfortable 'pulling' in my belly button but I don't feel pain when lifting.
So, is there a connection between lymph fluid in collarbone and shouldn't I feel pain when lifting if it's a hernia?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
No connection between this two things.
Detailed Answer:
How do you know that the swelling above the left collarbone is a fluid? Fluid collection in this location would be a very strange and rare thing. Above collarbone is the area when a lymph node can appear. Enlarged lymph node in this area can indicate a cancer including throat, larynx, thyroid, lungs and stomach cancer.
But I do not think that there is a connection between left collarbone area swelling and abdominal hernia. Please note that any cancer in the abdominal cavity is hardly palpable and even harder visible.
Hernia does not have to give pain. If its a large hernia, there can be no pain at all.
To find out the swelling reason, I suggest you to have chest x-ray. This is more than necessary if you do smoke.
Regards.
