Ultrasound best to look for gall bladder stones
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
I see many patients with problems which you have every day. There can be many reasons for a pain in the right lower/ upper quadrants. While most causes can be ruled out on CT scan abdomen, there are some causes which need to be confirmed through ultrasound scan.
Any serious cause for your pain, if present, would have been seen on CT scan abdomen. It will be nice if you can send me your CT scan report so that I can review it again.
In CT scan, most causes like kidney and ureteric stones, appendicitis, lymph nodes, any abscess in liver, intestinal wall thickening and abdominal wall hernia can be made out. However, when it comes to gall stones, ultrasound scan is one of the best methods. In my own experience, I have seen many patients in whom ultrasound showed stones in gall bladder which were not seen on CT scan. This is because the stones are made up of fat and cholesterol and cannot be well seen on CT scan. Small lymph nodes in the lower abdomen are also seen better on ultrasound with a high frequency transducer.
If you had gastritis or acidity in the past then it will help if you get an endoscopy done too.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Might be mild infection of ileocaecal region
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
I have seen patients with bulky ileocaecal valve (junction between small and large intestines) due to mildly infective causes. This is treated by medications and healthy soft home cooked food for few weeks. If the pain is persistent even after following instructions then a barium meal follow through might be done for evaluation as recommended by most doctors. This will help study the inner lumen at ileocaecal junction.
Rarely, it can be due to a chronic condition like chronic inflammatory bowel and need regular follow up. As you are having problem only since two days, there is no need to worry about chronic causes.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

bulky ileocaecal valve can cause irritable bowel
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
Irritable bowel disease can be due to problems in the ileocaecal valve. Such a condition can flare up at times and then remain silent for long periods. It is important that you discuss your irritable bowel disease in detail with your doctor because in the presence of ileocaecal valve thickening, this condition needs attention.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
