Brief Answer:
To rule out liver disease and stomach obstruction

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.

Based on your symptoms I would like to rule out liver disease and gastric obstruction.

Would you clarify a few things for me, please?
-do you have any other medical issues other than congestive heart failure (CHF)?
-what medications are you on?
-does the distention occur more immediately after meals or a few hours after?
-any vomiting or nausea or jaundice (yellow discoloration to the skin)?
-how are your stools and urine?
-do you smoke or consume alcohol?
-any swelling /water retention in face or ankles?
-how much water have they restricted you to have per day?
-how severe is the pain on a scale of 1-10 (1 being no pain)?

I recommend :
-a physician /gastroenterologist consult right away
-an ultrasound abdomen to check for size of liver, gall stones, and intra abdominal fluid. A CT scan may be necessary
-an endoscopy or barium swallow, if indicated based on clinical u
-an electrocardiogram and echocardiogram to check for heart function.
-blood tests (complete blood count, liver and kidney function tests, electrolytes, erythrocyte sedimentation rate)
-urine analysis

Based on the diagnosis, a treatment plan will be initiated.
Please do not self medicate and see your doctor right away. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
