Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain Due To Kidney Stones

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Dec 2014
Question: My wife has passed many kidney stones in the recent years. Lately, she is plagued with kidney pain on the left side but no stones are found/detected. She often is able to catch sand like particles in her urine and is getting really frustrated. This weekend, she took a trip with my son and has been in pretty sever pain with notice-able yellowing in her eyes. She is Hawaiian and so it is hard to tell if the skin is also yellowing as she is naturally golden brown in skin tone. Often the sand in the urine also come is mild blood (red) in the urine or on the toilet paper when she wipes. She is constantly fatigued and is in good physical condition as she has stayed very active when ever she isn't doubled over in pain. She is a personal trainer and teaches a kick boxing aerobics class at the gym twice a week. Any help or direction is appreciated as we just seem to get the same answers from the urologist every time despite saving the stones (sand) to show them what is passing almost daily. We are at a loss and getting frustrated. Thanks in advance.

Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your has problem of Urolithiasis.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on her problem.
1) What are he microscopic findings on microscopic (Routine) examination of Urine?
2) Have you ever any time done chemical analysis of stones that she has passed to know the composition of stones ?
3) Have you done blood tests to know the calcium, phosphorous ,Oxalates and Uric Acid levels ?if yes will you post the reports to help me in making any suggestions and comments.

She has what is called as true recurrence stone disease is mostly due to abnormal metabolism either of Calcium,Phosphorous,Oxalate or Uric acid .

Please get her chemical analysis of the stones done .This will help us take measures to minimize the recurrence of stones ,

Ensure to drink more water .This will help to keep her urine dilute and thereby formation of stones.

Taking prophylactic antibiotics will help to prevent recurrence of stones.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
