Brief Answer:
As explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/52 - usually only one abscess on the arms or hand - reoccurring every 2 weeks - some contain clear pus - Doctor said not MRSA or Staph - increase in acne on face and enlargement of acne and lymph node behind ear - wants know whether this can be an allergy...

The possible causes can be:
It is possible that you may be working and hot and humid atmosphere, may be with more dust.
Since it is on exposed parts of the body, it is possible that you have some sort of bugs in the bed, sofa, working place or so.
Or in fact an allergy to something that has increased both the problems you have mentioned.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the microscopy, staining and culture and sensitivity of the clear pus from any lesion as this can give an idea about the thing we are dealing with and help to plan a proper treatment.
Clean the affected area with soap and water as many times as possible as it reduces the load of the causative external factor/s.
Apply Solution Povidone Iodine to the area known to get affected as it makes the skin sterile and reduces the secondary infection.

I hope all your queries are answered with explanation, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
