default
Posted on Fri, 19 Sep 2014
Question: I am type 2 diabetic and accidentally took a second dose of both my Januvia 100mg and my lisonipril 10mg (blood pressure medicine). I tried to vomit without success. My blood sugar, before eating a slice of cheese and drinking a regular Dr. Pepper was 117 and my blood pressure was in my Normal range and read 110/84. How concerned should I be and is there anything else I should do?
My a1c is 6.2 and my fasting sugars are 90-110.
I take:
100mg Januvia once a day
10mg lisponpril once a day
800mg Metformin 2x day

Brief Answer:
take precautions

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

Since you have taken additional dose of anti diabetic and bp drugs . I suggest you to get your blood sugar done now and check bp.

If sugar levels are lower then 90 then take some sweets even sugar may be taken. And watch for symptoms like dizziness, sweating, confusion. If such symptoms are developed then you need to immediately consult your doctor and also if your bp is less then 100/60mmhg.

Keep some sugar or sweet items with you like sugar, chocolate etc which instantly raise blood sugar levels.

Also don't do any works like driving or high concentrated works. Try to be on bed as much as possible for one day.

From next day you may take your drugs regularly. Before taking metformin check sugar level again. If it is less then 90 skip the dose.

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.
