Acne cyst; topical + oral antiacne antibacterial

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I have reviewed the Images.

This is an acne cyst.

Topical treatment options include either benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel, twice daily Or you could also mix and apply clindamycin 1% gel+benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel (1:1), twice daily.

Along with topical treatment I would also suggest an Oral antiacne antibacterial e.g either doxycycline Or azithromycin for a week.


Another way to treat an acne cyst like this is to inject diluted (1:4) triamcinolone acetonide (10 mg / ml) into the cyst with the help of a 26 Gauge insulin syringe.

The injection would normally flatten the cyst within 36-48 hours. Thereafter topical benzoyl peroxide may be used, twice daily

Injection would be given by the doctor at his office.
