Suggest Treatment For Acne Scars And Pimples
Question: Hi,
I'm having ice pick scars on my face.I have undergone so many proceedures/treatments for the past 8-9 yrs. still I could'nt find a pretty good change in my face. Last week I took a Derma filler. That too found not so effective.also now I have got some active pimples around the mouth and on the forehead.had consulted almost all the dermatologist in and around my place. Could you pls assist me, whether this acne and scars are curable.. Or will it be like this forever?

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.
While acne activity goes down with time it may leave behind acne scars which can persist for ever.
Acne, treatment may be required to be continued for a long duration (sometimes decades) till acne activity goes down with time, therefore I can understand your frustration regarding the issue. Moreover, treatment needs to be adjusted at intervals, depending on the severity of acne and response to treatment.
Treatment mostly revolves around topical antiacne preparations like adapalene gel at night and clindamycin+-benzoyl peroxide gel during day time. In addition to these, Oral antiacne antibiotics like doxycycline/ minocycline Or Oral retinoids like isotretinoin may also be considered if acne are moderate grade or severe grade.
Ice pick acne scars are the most diffcult type of acne scars. Unlike other type of acne scars (like rolling type, box car scars), Laser Or Dermaroller are not effective options for ice pick acne scars.
Various measures that can be tried for ice pick type of acne scars with moderate to good response, is either CROSS techinique (i.e Chemical Reconstruction Of Superficial Scars with 80-100% TCA i.e trichloroacetic acid) Or Punch grafitng Or Punch floatation. You can discuss about these modalities from a doctor in your vicinity. However, this procedure or any other procedure for acne scars is advisable once your acne activity has completely settled down with proper treatment Or else there is a chance that you may continue to developing new acne scars.

Thank you Doctor. Could you please suggest me some better face wash. At present I'm using cetaphil (for oily blemished skin) and tone n glow. Before I have used Ahaglow S, lacne face wash ,keracnyl etc. Also I need a sunscreen lotion too.Im using Rivela tint.Any better products for Acne prone skin?

Cetaphil Oily skin cleanser is perfect. Alternatively you may use Episoft oil control face wash. Salicylic acid and glycolic acid based face washes like Tone n Glow, AHA Glow S, L acne Or Keracnyl would be too drying for your skin and I would not suggest any of these.
You may use a Sebamed sunscreen lotion. It is non greasy and suitable for oily skin. Another sunscreen that you may use is Suncote gel.
