Suggest Treatment For Acute Diverticulitis

Question: Last week my wife had an attack of acute diverticulitis. She was treated with antibiotics and discharged 3 days ago. Now at home taking levofloxacin (750 mg daily) and flagyl (500 mg daily). Also pepsid (20 mg daily). She's on low fiber diet. She's weak, gassy, in constant discomfort, and has thrown up what looks like dark green bile twice. She's also had a burning sensation in her stomach. Are these in any way normal reactions to her meds, and is there anything over the counter that I can get for her?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking !
You are reporting that your wife had and acute attack of diverticulitis. She has now symptoms like: stomach burning, vomiting, vomiting dark green bile etc.
Her symptoms may be related with :
- gastritis / ulcer of the stomach ( Advil use damage stomach mucosa)
- levofloxacin side effects.
If I were her treating doctor I would suggest to use:
- PPI's drugs like Prilosec OTC instead of famotidine ( pepsid)
- simethicone to avoid gas forming
- use plenty of water
Hope it was helpful to you!
If you have other concerns I would be glad to assist you further.
