Suggest Treatment For Acute Hives

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Oct 2014
Question: Hi,

I have acute Hives (Urticaria and Angioedema). Doctor whom I consulted says this will go by itself and I need to wait for 3 to 6 weeks. And asked me to not have outside foor as it is internal allergy.
I am getting frustrated due to this. One day it disappears but next morning it starts itching and starts again.
It is happening on my hand where I fold , near arm pit, thighs and knee protion where I fold my leg.

Is there a way to find the reason or to get a solution for this?

Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably you have developed pressure urticaria.
As hives are developing mainly on the areas where pressure or friction is more.
Can you please upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in confirming my diagnosis and I would be able to help you better.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you

Hi,

I am uploading few pictures of it.
Earlier it used to be in round shape but now its in random shape. Wherever there is a itching, the whole area becomes red.
Is this never ending skin problem?
Is there a way to get rid off this?

HI Doctor,

I have uploaded all the pics that I had taken on different days. P7 file was taken in initial 2nd week.
I feel the itching and the rashes starts at the places where the cloths are tight or has less air circulation. like the lines where we wear inner wears and the below the hand sleeves i.e. inner side of the hand and not exactly where sleeves end.
Usaully the itching and rashes increases in the evening and when I wake up in the morning.
Hope I have given most of the details.
Looking forward to your detailed analysis on the cause of the allergy and the
solution that may reduce this.

Many thanks

Brief Answer:
antihistamine

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photographs.
It Is typical urticaria.
It is true that you need to wait for few weeks so that your body adapts itself however simultaneous treatment is also required.
Mast cell stabilizers like monterlukast and antihistamine like cetrizine must be taken for a month. Also try to wear loose fitting clothes for a month.
It is impossible to find out the allergen as almost anything in this world can be an allergen.
Don't go for allergy tests.
Please don't get tensed. It May increase the lesions.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you
