Suggest Treatment For Allergic Reaction Due To Singulair Dose?
Question: what can you take if you believe your having an allergic reaction to your first dose of singulair? how long until its out of your system?
Brief Answer:
Antihistamines can be tried.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Singulair is monteleukast which can cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
Usually the allergy lasts for 24 hours after one dose. After that the medicine is usually excreted out of the system so it is unlikely to cause further symptoms unless taken repeatedly.
You can try allegra which I usually prescribe for such allergies but only if they are severe. You will need prescription from your doctor.
Mild allergies will settle spontaneously without treating if you stop the offending drug.
Wishing you great health
Regards
Dr Arun
