Question: So I just started a new job at an assisted living.I was trying to adjust a residents call light. It was hooked to her pillowcase with a safety pin attached. When I undid it it cut me. She is known to bleed from her face sometimes. I didn't see Any blood on her pillowcase, but I'm freaked out. Help!
Brief Answer:
report to your superviser
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You are currently working in an assisted living facility and had a needle prick. The chance of any infection like HIV or hepatitis is extremely low. I would urge you to contact your supervisor and have the usual battery of tests that are done after a needle stick. This is only precautionary but you need to be open and honest about this. They will check your blood for HIV and hepatitis so don't get freaked out. This is normal procedure and it is there for your protection.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
