Suggest Treatment For An Insect Bite
Her mom is one of those oh, wait and see because I'm too busy to go to the doctor. My main concern is that the arm below the bite (which is just inside the bend of her left arm) shows her veins very visibly while the unharmed arm shows no veins visible at all.
We aren't aware of any insect bite problems in past but she has an epi pen for cashew and cashew-type nuts (like pistachios). Should I be concerned? I don't know how much you charge but I am disabled (IPF, RSD, CHF, high blood pressure and diabetes) so I am on a very very limited budget but I will pay for information because I am worried and she is MY best medicine. Thank you.
Giving some antiallergic like cetirizine should be helpful.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.
I have gone carefully through the details. I do not think that you need to get concerned. I would say that it would be ok if you watch out for allergic reactions including rashes and wheezing or if any other abnormal signs are present. It might be reasonable to give her some cetirizine syrup (over the counter) for few days. I would not get concerned about the visibility of the veins. In case of any further reaction, I would strongly suggest that you need to take the child to the emergency room of a hospital without delay. If the child is otherwise active and fine and without any problems, there is no reason to worry.
Please do not panic.
