Hello,
You have history of GERD and anxiety disorder. You have been suffering from
post nasal drip and allergies. Presently you have enlarged
taste buds on the back of the tongue. Saline nasal sprays will help to keep the nasal mucosa moist and hence reduce discomfort from post nasal drip. Taking
pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) and antihistamines is also helpful.
Stress may cause swollen enlarged taste buds or papillae. Avoid smoking or taking spicy food, take food rich in iron and vitamin B to prevent swelling of tongue. You are suggested to maintain your oral care routine by brushing twice a day and cleaning between teeth with floss. Rinse your mouth and gargle your throat with warm salt water, stay hydrated to help reduce inflamed or enlarged papillae.
Brush twice daily and clean your tongue. Abnormal bumps on the back of your tongue may be due to
tongue injury, infection, irritation or cancer. Get clinically examined by a
dentist and ENT, get the required tests and investigations done. Get treated at the earliest. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
